About Stephen Foster
Stephen Foster, often regarded as "the father of American music," was a legendary American composer and songwriter who created more than 280 songs over the course of his 2 decades composing career.
Many schools' music curricula feature some of his tunes, which are referred to as "childhood songs" in the music world.
His songs seemed to be mostly inspired by his own personal experiences with sensitive lyrics and a captivating beat. His songs expressed his feelings on family, politics, temperaments, wars, and plantation of life.
He is widely hailed as the most successful songwriter of the 19th century. In other areas of the globe, he is arguably the most well-known American composer.
Family
He was born to William Barclay Foster and Eliza Clayland Tomlinson Foster. He was married to Jane McDowell Foster Wiley until his death in 1964.
He has a daughter called Marion Foster Welch. He was the youngest of nine children born to his parents, preceded by Ann Eliza, Henry, Henrietta, William Sr Dunning, Charlotte Susana, William Jr., James, and Morrison.
