About Steve Davis
Steve Davis made his debut as a professional snooker player in 1978 and by the 1980s, he was already an influential figure in the sport. During this period, he held the number one spot on the world ranking for seven successive seasons. He is recognized as the sport’s first personality to win more than £1 million in prize money. He retired from snooker as an active player at the age of 58 in April 2016 but continues to be involved with it as a commentator and analyst.
Family Life
He was married to a woman named Judith from 1990 to 2005. They are parents to two sons.
Achievements
He became the first and only snooker player (as of 2021) to be adjudged the BBC’s “Sports Personality of the Year” in 1988. He won six World Snooker Championships.
Trivia
He was one of the snooker stars who performed the humorous song, “Snooker Loopy” which was released in 1986.
