About Steve Foley
Steve Foley was a US drummer who spent most of his time playing for The Replacements band, Bash & Pop, Curtiss A and other music groups in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Background
Foley was raised in Hopkins, Minnesota, United States; together with six siblings.
Foley took over as drummer for the Curtis A band when Chris Mars, also a drummer, left the band in 1990. He played for the 'Curtiss A' band for over a decade.
Career
Foley’s first professional experience as a drummer was with the Replacements band at First Avenue's twentieth anniversary. He played so well that his father unarguably acclaimed him as having a great talent in music.
In January 1991, The Replacements went on a European tour for Warner Bros’ record label, Sire Records titled “All Shook Down”. They performed as a warm-up act for singer and songwriter Elvis Costello.
The Replacement's fan base in New York turned bad and this led to several members leaving the group. The band eventually split with each member going their separate ways.
Death
Foley's career was dry for over a decade, according to reports the musician had been on medication for depression and anxiety.
He subsequently died at age 49 following an accidental drug overdose. Foley was buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
