He was born to Sam Forbert and he grew up in Meridian, Mississippi.
Career Highlight
Forbert developed interest in music at an early age. He moved to New York City to pursue his music career. There he held performances in places like the Greenwich Village before he joined the Nemperor Records in 1978. The same year he joined the record label, he released his first album “Alive on Arrival”. The album was produced by Steve Burgh and it had about nine songs, including “Grand Central Station”, “Settle down'' and “You Cannot Win If You Do Not Play”.
His other albums are “Little Stevie Orbit”, “The American in Me”, and “Mission of the Crossroad Palms”.
Forbert had a conflict with Nemperor Records and due to that, he was unable to record songs for four years. After those years, he released his fourth album titled “Streets of This Town” in 1988 (under Geffen Records). Steve Forbert worked with other labels such as Blue Corn Music, 429 Records, and Valley Entertainment.
Trivia
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and after going through medical treatments, he was able to recover.
