Suriya is the stage name of Indian actor, producer and television personality, Saravanan Sivakumar. He is famous in his home country for his extensive work in the Tamil language film industry. After his breakthrough role in the 2001 action drama film Nandha, he went on to achieve success in other films such as Mounam Pesiyadhe, Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, Ghajini, Vaaranam Aayiram, 24, Singham and Kaappaan.
Family Life
He is the son of actor Sivakumar. His mother’s name is Lakshmi. His sister, Brindha is a singer while his brother, Karthi is an actor. He married actress Jyothika in 2006. As of the year 2020, they have two children together.
Achievements
For his dual roles in the sci-fi action film 24, he won the Edison Award for Best Protagonist and Best Antagonist, the Filmfare Award for Critics Best Actor – Tamil, the Zee Cine Awards’ South Sensation of the Year, the Kollywood Cinemaaa Award for Best Villain and the FilmiBeat Award for Best Villain in Tamil.
