Thomas Dexter Jakes Sr., widely known as T.D. Jakes, is an American author, bishop and filmmaker, who is best known as the bishop of non-denominational megachurch, The Potter’s House.
Most of his sermons and church services have been broadcast on the Daystar Television Network, The World Network, the Trinity Broadcasting Network, Black Entertainment Television, and on Lightsource.com.

He married Serita Jakes in 1982. He has had children named Jamar Jakes, Thomas Jakes Jr., Cora Jakes Coleman, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and Jermaine Jakes with Serita.
Achievements
In 2003, his album titled, A Wing and a Prayer was awarded Best Gospel or Chorus Album during the 46th Grammy Awards.
His 2004 film, derived from his book of the same title, Woman Thou Art Loosed won the Best Independent Film award at the NNACP Image Award.
