Taron David Egerton is a Welsh actor and singer. He garnered international attention when he portrayed Gary Unwin in the action spy comedy film, Kingsman: The Secret Service and its follow-up film Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
He has also had major roles in British biographical films such as Testament of Youth, Eddie the Eagle, Legend, and Rocketman.
Personal Life
Egerton was born to a social worker mother and a musician father. After his parents divorced, he moved with his mother from Birkenhead in England to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll in Wales, where he spent his primary school years. He also spent his teenage years in Aberystwyth. He gets his Welsh nationality through his grandmother.
Achievements
In 2015, he won the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer for his role in Kingsman: The Secret Service. For his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman, he won several accolades including the 2020 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, the GQ Awards’ Actor of the Year and the Hollywood Film Award for Breakthrough Actor.
