Achievements
Hidayat's rise began in the late 1990s, when he won gold at the Asian Games in 1998. The following year, he took home the bronze medal at the Asian Championship. Following that, he won a bronze medal in the 1999 Sudirman Cup and a gold medal at the 1999 Southeast Asian Games in Brunei.
He was rated third in the world in 1999. After coming second in the 1999 All England Open, he received a lot of acclaim. He evolved his method over time, which was simple but lethal for opponents.
His career took off when he began winning medals at a young age, but his crowning triumph came in the 2004 Athens Olympics, when he won the gold medal in the men's singles final after defeating Shon Seung Mo.
