About Thich Nhat Hanh
Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings on mindfulness over the past six decades have made him a global icon of peace. The monk and peace activist, who is also a poet, was barred from re-entering Vietnam after a visit to the United States in 1975 for denouncing the Vietnam War and calling for peace.
He is also the founder of the popular France-based Buddhism school, Plum Village Monastery. He has written more than 130 books.
Family Life
His birth name was Nguyễn Xuân Bảo. He is the brother of Buddhist nun and peace activist Chân Không. His exile from Vietnam was lifted in 2005. He has been residing there since 2018.
