Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Career Highlights
He launched his music career in his teens. In 1967, he collaborated with businessman Stan Watson to produce songs for a local group, The Delfonics. The following year, they released the hit “La-La Means I Love You.” In subsequent years, they produced hits including “I’m Sorry,” “Break Your Promise” and “Ready or Not, Here I Come.” He also arranged songs for the likes of The O'Jays, The Drells and Jerry Butler. In 1975, he teamed up with Dion Warwick to produce the album “Track of the Cat.” In the 1980s, he produced works for The Temptations and Phyllis Hyman.
Accolade
In 2006, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
