This Nevada-native came onto our screens in the late 2000s as John Connor in “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and has gone on to write and produce his own songs.
Early Life
Dekker was born into a musical family, his mother was a singer and concert pianist and his father was an opera singer. His parents were always around actors which helped Dekker to get his first role at the age of six in the critically acclaimed and long-running soap “The Young and the Restless”.
Career
Dekker worked as a child actor in other films such as “Star Trek Generations” and “Village of the Damned”. In the latter, a 1995 sci-fi film directed by John Carpenter, he was cast as David McGowan, appearing alongside Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley, and Linda Kozlowski. The actor soon became a regular on the Disney show “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show” for three years. He landed the role of John Connor working alongside Lena Headey. Dekker further got roles in notable films like “My Sister's Keeper”, “Laid to Rest” and the 2010 remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. In the latter, he was in a cast that included Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, and Jackie Earle Haley, among others.
Dekker started writing songs at the age of ten, he wrote and produced his debut album “Psyanotic”, which was released in 2008. He also made his directorial debut in the independent film “Jack Goes Home” in 2016.
