About Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was an English-American political activist, philosopher, political theorist, and revolutionary.
Before coming to America from England, Thomas Paine worked as an Excise Officer. When he lost his job and his money, Thomas Paine emigrated to America on the recommendation of Benjamin Franklin. On arrival, he got involved in the American Revolution. He wrote a famous pamphlet in 1776 called Common Sense, and it was read by most of the American rebel soldiers. He lived most of his later life in France, participating in the French Revolution. He supported the Girondists and wrote the book Rights of Man while there.
