Personal Life
Thuso Nokwanda Mbedu was born to a Sotho father and a Zulu mother and due to the fact that she lost her parents when she was very young, her grandmother was the one who raised her.
She was enrolled at Pelham Primary School and from there, she continued her education at Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School then she went through University of the Witwatersrand where she studied Physical Theatre and Performing Arts Management.
Career
She started acting in 2014 when she got a casting role in “Saints and Sinners” as Boni Khumalo then she got a role in three episodes of “Nosisa”. In 2015, she played Kitso Medupe in “Scandal!” before playing Khethi in “Snake Park”.
Her efforts in “Is’Thunzi” as Winnie Bhengu, got her nominated during the South African Film and Television Awards in the category of “Best Actress TV Drama”, which she won. In 2017, she was in “Shuga” before “Generations: The Legacy” as Okuhle Cele.
When she played the daughter of Viola Davis in “The Woman King” in 2022, her fame skyrocketed.
