About Tim Rodber
Tim Rodber, born Timothy Keith Andrew Rodber, is a former English rugby union player. He was acclaimed for his versatility on the field of play, with incredible talents to play as a lock, number eight, or flanker. He played for Northampton Saints at the club level and represented the “British and Irish Lions” and England on the international scene. He retired from rugby in 2001.
Background & Education
He excelled at rugby during childhood, representing Churcher’s College, where he was schooled. However, after being introduced to the army at age 16, he secured an army scholarship which helped him graduate from Oxford Polytechnic (presently Oxford Brookes University). In addition, he captained the army’s “Green Howards” rugby team and played for Petersfield RFC.
Club Career Highlights
In 1987, he joined the “Northampton Saints” and played with the team for the next 13 years. During that period, he made 235 appearances for the team and was the club captain for five years.
Rodber’s most iconic image with the Saints was in 2000 when he helped the team to lift the “Heineken Cup.”
International Career
Rodber was part of the England team that won the 1993 “Rugby World Cup Sevens” and was pivotal to the successful South Africa tour of the “British and Irish Lions” in 1997.
