About Tim Wakefield
Following his impressive performances in the minor league, American baseball star Tim Wakefield shot to fame in 1992 when he starred in his first game for MLB side Pittsburgh Pirates. Playing as a pitcher, Wakefield recorded most of his successes with the Boston Red Sox which he joined in 1995.
During his 17 years with the Red Sox, he won the World Series twice and was selected into the All-Star in 2009.
Other activities
Outside baseball, Wakefield gained lots of followers for his humanitarian works. He was celebrated for his works with Boston’s Franciscan Hospital for Children where he allowed some patients to come spend a period of time with him at the home grounds of the Red Sox.
As a broadcaster, he was known for his time with NESN. In 2015, he joined the Farmington Bank as their spokesperson.
Private Life
He married Stacy Stover in the year 2002. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Trevor, two years later. In 2005, they had a daughter called Brianna.
Education
Before starting his education at Florida Institute of Technology, he was a student of Eau Gallie High School.
Awards
He won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2010. He was also a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
Trivia
Wakefield was the first pitcher of the Red Sox to record 3,006 innings.
Before announcing his retirement in 2012, he was the oldest player to feature in the MLB.
