About Tom Brokaw
Regarded as one of the United States’ news anchoring “Big Three” (alongside Dan Rather and Peter Jennings) of the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, Thomas Brokaw was active in broadcasting for 60 years.
He became known for his work on NBC as the anchor of “NBC Nightly News” and “The Today Show”, which he hosted for five and twenty-two years, respectively. He has also been an author of several books, including “The Greatest Generation”.
Family life
His parents’ names were Anthony Orville Brokaw and Eugenia Conley. He had two younger brothers. He and his wife since 1962, Meredith Lynn Auld, have three daughters. Meredith is an author.
Achievements
His honors received include a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Peabody Awards, Sylvanus Thayer Award and the Golden Plate Award.
Trivia
He officially retired from NBC in January 2021.
