About Tom Dempsey
Tom Dempsey was an American football player who has competed professionally on behalf of the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers and Buffalo Bills. And for a number of reasons he has become one of the most-memorable placekickers in the NFL’s history.

Dempsey was married to a lady named Carlene.
Achievements
On 8 November 1970 Dempsey set an NFL record by successfully completing a 63-yard long field goal. This was on behalf of the Saints, giving them a narrow victory against the Detroit Lions.
He made the Pro Bowl in 1969 and was also inducted into the New Orleans Saints’ Hall of Fame in 1989.
Death
He lived in a senior facility that was ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic and ultimately died as a result of it.
Trivia
He was born with a condition whereas his right foot’s toes and right hand’s fingers were all missing.
During games he wore a special type of shoe on his right foot, which was his kicking foot.
In 1977 the NFL modified its rules whereas all kickers must wear a uniform type of shoe, and this statute is informally referred to as the “Tom Dempsey Rule”.
