About Tom Ford
Tom Ford is a multi award winning American film director and fashion designer who gained international acclaim working as the creative director of famous fashion labels Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. He founded the Tom Ford label in 2006. As a film director, he is known for directing a number of films, including the 2009 drama film A Single Man based on writer Christopher Isherwood's famous 1964 novel of the same name. The film received one Academy Award nomination and three Golden Globe Award nominations.
Family Life
He was born to Shirley Thrasher and Thomas Ford. In 1986, he began a same-sex relationship with journalist Richard Buckley, whom he eventually got married to. He and Richard welcomed their son Alexander in 2012. Alexander was born through a surrogate mother.
Trivia
He was one of the celebrities who strongly opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He later stated that America’s invasion of Iraq made him feel enormously ashamed to call himself an American.
Over the years, he has drawn controversy for his use of extreme nudity in his ad campaigns.
