Toni Morrison became famous as a novelist, book editor, essayist, and a college professor. She was born Chloe Wofford but used the pen name, "Toni Morrison". In 1970, she launched her first book tagged "The Bluest Eye".
She earned a national recognition in 1977 with the book, "Song of Solomon", which also earned her several notable accolades.

She also took home the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1977.
She earned the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988.
Morrison passed away, at the age of 88, after her failed battle with pneumonia in the year 2019.
She received a BA in English from Howard University.
Morrison gained a Master's degree in American literature from Cornell University.
