About Tsutomu Miyazaki
Nicknamed “Otaku Murderer,” Tsutomu Miyazaki was a brutal Japanese serial killer. He was infamous for murdering four girls in Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo between late 1988 and June 1989.
Background & Early Life
He was born in Itsukaichi, Tokyo. However, due to a rare congenital disability, the joints in his hands fused and deprived him of the ability to bend his wrists upwardly.
Miyazaki schooled at Meidai Nakano High School and was initially an excellent student until he began recording poor grades due to developing an inferiority complex and a pornography addiction. He later studied photography at a junior college.
Murders & Arrest
Between August 1988 and June 1989, he mutilated and murdered four girls (Mari Konno, Masami Yoshizawa, Erika Namba, and Ayako Nomoto) aged four to seven. He often taunted the relatives of his victims and was a necrophiliac who engaged in cannibalism with the corpse of the girls.
On July 23, 1989, the father of a young girl, Miyazaki, convinced to strip naked, attacked him in a park at Hachioji. He initially managed to escape but was eventually arrested by police when he returned to the park to pick up his car.
Death
The serial killer was sentenced to death in 1997 and executed by hanging on 17 June 2008 at the Tokyo Detention House.
