About Tsutomu Yamaguchi
Tsutomu Yamaguchi was the only person ever formally recognized as being a survivor of both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs during World War II.
History
Tsutomu was living in Nagasaki, Japan but was traveling for business when he found himself in Hiroshima. The atomic bomb detonated and he survived, returning home to Nagasaki to get his wounds taken care of and returning to work. The Nagasaki atomic bomb detonated. He survived a 2nd time. He later married another survivor of the Nagasaki bombing. They lived with various radiation-related illnesses and the 3 children they had also developed conditions that is speculated to be from their parents exposure to the radiation from the bombings.Tsutomu and his wife both died at the age of 93 in 2010. He believed strongly against the development of nuclear weapons and even contributed to a documentary about his tragic experiences.
