About Urban Meyer
Urban Meyer, officially known as Urban Frank Meyer III, is a well-known American professional football coach. He has coached several universities in American college football and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL).
Background & Education
Toledo, Ohio, is his hometown. However, he lived in Ashtabula, Ohio, during his childhood. He is a 1982 graduate of Saint John High School in Ashtabula. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he played college football as a defensive back and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology in 1986. Additionally, he was part of the “Sigma Chi Fraternity” during his undergraduate education.
In 1988, he obtained an MSA degree in sports administration from Ohio State University.
Coaching Career & Honors
Between 1985 and 2000, he worked in various departments of the football coaching teams of several American schools, including St. Xavier HS, Ohio State Buckeyes, Illinois State Redbirds, Colorado State Rams and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
From 2001 until 2021, he was the head coach of the Bowling Green Falcons, Florida Gators, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Jackson Jaguars (NFL).
As of 2021, he was a three-time “Division I FBS National champion”, three-time “Big Ten champion”, two-time “SEC champion’’ and two-time “Mountain West Conference” champion.
