About Valtteri Bottas
After attending a kart competition at age six, Valtteri Bottas developed a love for motorsport. In 2005, he participated in the Karting World Cup in which he finished eighth. He went on to participate in other competitions such as the Formula Renault, and the Formula Three.
He made his Formula One debut in 2010 as a test driver for the Williams Racing team. The Finnish driver recorded his first F1 win 2017 at the Russian Grand Prix. His impressive performances have earned him deals with a number of racing teams including Mercedes, and Alfa Romeo.
Family
He was raised by his parents Marianne Välimaa and Rauno Bottas. In 2016, he married swimmer Emilia Pikkarainen but they divorced three years later.
Accolades
He was named the “Most Improved Driver” at the 2014 Sky Sports Awards. Other laurels that he has received are the DHL Fastest Lap Award, and the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy.
Trivia
Bottas is known to be one of the owners of the Kahiwa Coffee Roasters in his native Finland.
As a philanthropist, he has supported a number of charity works through his “Valtteri Bottas Duathlon” event which was launched in 2017.
