About Victor Vasarely
Victor Vasarely was famous for popularizing the optical art style. The Hungarian-born French painter published his first work in the 1920s but was best known for his 1937 “Zebra” painting. Mostly described as the "grandfather" of Op art, Vasarely produced many oeuvres with some titled “Supernovae” and “Hommage à l'hexagone, Vega”.
His amazing works have been showcased at centers like the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and France’s Musée en Herbe.

In 1930, he tied the knot with Claire Spinner and together they raised two sons.

He was a product of Eötvös Loránd University.
Awards
Vasarely was the recipient of many prizes including the Guggenheim Prize and Milan Triennial’s Gold Medal. He was decorated with the French Chevalier de L'Ordre de la Légion d'honneur in 1970.
