2020 Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Vinicio Castilla Soria, popularly known as Vinny, played for popular teams such as San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, and Houston Astros.
Career
Castilla lived out most of his life in Mexico and nurtured his baseball talent with hopes of playing professionally.
His prayers were answered in 1991 when he made his professional debut with the Atlanta Braves and played with the team till 1992. Castilla later moved to play for the Colorado Rockies from 1993 to 1999. From 2000 to 2001, he played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
The Mexican former baseball star had short spells with other teams such as the Houston Astros, the Colorado Rockies, and the Washington Nationals.
2006 saw him play for San Diego Padres and later left in the same year to play for Colorado Rockies until his retirement in 2007.
Career as Manager
Castilla managed the Mexico baseball team in 2007 and also served as the team's manager during the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
Personal Life
The baseball player exchanged wedding vows with Samantha Castilla. He has three children as of 2021.
