Virginia “Ginni” Lamp Thomas is an astute American attorney and conservative activist. She is the wife of Clarence Thomas, an Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court.
Early Years
Ginni grew up in Omaha, Nebraska with her overtly Republican parents. She had a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Business Communication. After which she obtained a Juris Doctor – both from Creighton University. Ginni dreamt of becoming a congress woman from a young age.
Ginni and Thomas married in 1987.
Career
The driven attorney moved to Washington D.C. to work as a legislative aid to lawyer and US representative, Hal Daub. Four years later, she moved to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to take up the role of Attorney and Labor Relations Specialist; where she often represented the business community in congressional hearings.
After working 6 years in the Chamber of Commerce, she was employed by the U.S. Department under the Labor Legislative Affairs unit. It was around this time that her husband, Thomas, was nominated by then-U.S. President George H.W. Bush to serve on the bench of the nation’s highest court – the US Supreme Court.
Afterward, she took up various roles including; policy analyst and right-wing lobbyist. The conservative activist also served on many conservative-leaning boards and committees; and even founded a lobbying group – Liberty Central – in 2009.
Trivia
The seasoned attorney was once involved with a religious cult known as Life Spring. It took her a lot of effort to break away from it.
