About Vivian Fuchs
Vivian Fuchs was an explorer who hailed from England. In 1958, he made the first overland crossing of Antarctica alongside his expeditionary team. In 1929, Fuchs embarked on his first expedition alongside James Wordie, his tutor to Greenland. The following year, he explored Olduvai Gorge with Louis Leakey, an anthropologist. In 1938, Fuchs joined the Territorial Army and explored Gold Coast, presently Ghana.

He was educated at St John's College, Cambridge, and Brighton College.
Family
He was born to Ernst Fuchs and Violet Watson. In 1933, he got married to Joyce Connell. Later, he married Eleanor Honnywill after the death of his first wife. He gave birth to three children named Hilary, Rosalind, and Peter.
Awards
He was the recipient of the Hubbard Medal, the Founder's Gold Medal, as well as the Prestwich Medal. Additionally, in 1959, he was honored by the Royal Danish Geographical Society with the Hans Egede Medal.
