Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist whose famous works include On White II, Der Blaue Reiter, Odessa Port, Houses in Munich and Akhtyrka. He is regarded as one of the most influential painters from Russia as well as one of the pioneers of abstract modern art.
Family Life
He was the son of Lidia Ticheeva and Vasily Silvestrovich Kandinsky. He married Nina Andreievskaya in 1917. The couple had a son named Vsevolod Kandinsky. He and Nina remained married until his death in 1944.
Trivia
He became a French citizen in 1939 and lived for the rest of his life in France.
