About William Bonin
William Bonin was an American killer who was notoriously known for murdering not less than 21 boys and young men. He was also accused of raping and torturing his victims. He committed most of his crimes in Southern California between 1968 and 1980.
Arrest and conviction
Bonin was first captured by law enforcers in 1969 and was charged with kidnapping and sodomy. Two years later, he was sent for mental treatment after he was considered to be mentally ill. He was finally arrested in 1980 and sentenced to death after he was found guilty of 14 murder cases. His execution was in 1996 via lethal injection.
Family
He spent his early years with his parents Alice Dorothy Cote and Robert Leonard Bonin Sr. He had a son with a lady he got engaged to in 1965.
Education
He studied at North High School.
Trivia
Until 1968, he was a member of the U.S. Air Force.
His crimes earned him the nickname the “Freeway Killer”.
He was California’s first prisoner to be executed by lethal injection.
