About William F. Buckley Jr.
William F. Buckley Jr. is credited with having revitalised conservatism in the United States in the 20th century especially through his “National Review” magazine, which he founded in 1955.
For 33 years (1966-1999), he solely hosted “Firing Line”, a public affairs television show. A celebrated public intellectual, author and commentator, Buckley had previously served in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for two years (1951-1953) following his graduation from Yale University.
He authored over 50 books, including “God and Man at Yale”.
Family Life
He was one of the ten children of William F. Buckley Sr. and Aloise Josephine Antonia. He was married to Patricia Aldyen Austin Taylor from 1950 until her death in 2007.
Their son is the author and political satirist, Christopher Buckley.
Achievements
His spy thriller novel, “Stained Glass”, won a National Book Award in 1980.
