His Life
William Henry Harrison is notable for being the last United States President to be born as a subject of the British Empire. When 18, he joined the U.S. military, fighting in the Northwest Indian War. After some service, he joined Congress as a representative of the Northwest Territory. He later became a governor of Indiana Territory, an army general during the War of 1812, and then President. He died of pneumonia only a month after becoming President, making his term the shortest of any U.S. President.
