About William Jennings Bryan
He was an American Statesman and politician who is noted to have run for Presidency under the Democratic Party on three occasions – he stood as a presidential candidate in 1896, 1900, and 1908.
Bryan is again noted to have served in the United States House of Representatives and also as the 41st United States Secretary of State under the presidency of Woodrow Wilson.
He stared up another national attention when he got involved in the Scopes Trial, just before his death in 1925.
Family Life
He was born to mother, Mariah Elizabeth Bryan and father, Silas Lillard Bryan, who was a former judge and politician. He had eight siblings in which only four made it into adulthood.
He got married to Mary Baird Bryan in 1884. He had four children, including former politician and American Ambassador, Ruth Bryan.
Trivia
He was homeschooled.
His daughter, Ruth was the first-ever female to be appointed as a United States Ambassador.
