Background
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Kotzwinkle attended Penn State University where he studied literature. While in college, he worked on a couple of theater productions but discovered his talent was in writing and not acting. Few months short of graduating from Penn State University, Kotzwinkle dropped out of school to pursue his dream.
Career
Since writing his first novel “The Fireman” in 1969, this gifted writer has penned down over 20 novels across different types of genres. He won the National Magazine Award for Fiction and the World Fantasy Award for his novel “Doctor Rat”. Kotzwinkle is also the recipient of the O. Henry Prize in 1977 for his short stories and the Buckeye Award in 1984.
Personal Life
This Pennsylvanian-native married fellow author Elizabeth Gundy in 1965.
