About William Randolph Hearst
William Randolph Hearst was an American newspaper magnate famous for building the largest newspaper and magazine business in the world. Aside from being a newspaper publisher, he was also a politician who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on two occasions. His famous newspaper war with Joseph Pulitzer led to the coining of the term "yellow journalism" - a term which is synonymous with his name.
Family Life
He was born to millionaire U.S. senator George Hearst and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. He got married to Millicent Veronica Willson in 1903. The marriage produced five sons and lasted until his death in 1951.
Trivia
He attended Harvard College but was expelled before he graduated as a result of his indiscipline.
In 1934, he interviewed Adolf Hitler in Berlin.
The 1941 American drama film Citizen Kane, which is one of the greatest films of all time, was based in part on his life.
