About Willie Brown
Three-time Super Bowl champion and 4-time Pro Bowler, William Ferdie Brown is an American-born former cornerback who rose to fame while playing for the Houston Oilers and the Oakland Raiders. He also made a lot of impact as the head coach of the California State University, Long Beach, in 1991.
Early Life
The NFL player attended and graduated Grambling State University, where he continued to sharpen his skills at football while hoping to make a professional debut for a famous club.
Career
His prayers were answered in 1963 when he joined the Houston Oilers for a brief period until he was let go that same year. Although disappointed, his talent spoke for himself, and he was again called to join a new Denver Broncos team from 1963 to 1971, during which time he was a 2-time First-team All-Pro, AFL champion, and 3-time First-team All-AFL champion. Brown went on to play for the Oakland Raiders from 1967 to 1968. He also coached a number of teams, some being Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders from 1979 to 1988, Long Beach State in 1991, and Jordan High School in 1994.
Personal Life
Brown was never legally married and died in 2019, aged 78.
