About Wink Martindale
Wink Martindale began his career at age 17 when he was employed by a Jackson-based radio station known as WPLI. He went on to work with other radio stations before starting his television career with WHBQ-TV in the 1950s.
The American radio and television personality became a global icon in 1972 when he appeared for the first time as the host of the game show titled “Gambit”. Martindale has gone on to host other popular game series including “Debt” and “High Rollers”.
Private Life
In 1954, he became the husband of Madelyn Leech. Their union, which came to an end in 1971, produced four kids. He married Sandy Ferra in 1975.
Education
He’s a product of Memphis State University.
Achievements
The famous game show host was honored on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame with a star in 2006. The following year, he was elected into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame.
Trivia
He made a brief appearance on the soap opera titled “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2016.
He has sold over one million copies of his version of the track "Deck of Cards", which also reached number seven on the Hot 100 chart.
During his time as a radio presenter, he interviewed a number of celebrities including Elvis Presley.
