About Winston Churchill
Winston Churchill was an iconic British statesman who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955. Before becoming Prime Minister, he held a number of posts such as the Secretary of State for Defense, Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential people in British history as well as one of the most influential leaders in history.
He was married to Clementia Hozier in 1908. He and Clementia had five children: Diana, Randolph, Sarah, Marigold and Mary.
In 1953, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. A decade later, he became the first person to be made an honorary citizen of the United States. He emerged the Greatest Briton of All Time in a 2002 poll conducted by the BBC.
