Yanni is the stage name of Greek pianist, composer, music producer and keyboardist Yiannis Chryssomallis. He rose to international prominence through the performance of his instrumental music in popular tourism spots around the world as well as the released videos recorded of his performances. He began experimenting with music by playing in a local band as a college student in the United States in the 1970s. His unique style blends soft rock, classical, jazz and world music.

He was born to Felitsa and Sotiri Chryssomallis. Upon their encouragement, he taught himself to play the piano in his childhood.
Achievements
He earned Grammy Award nominations for “Best New Age Album” for his albums “In My Time” and “Dare to Dream”.
