He began his career, with the Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas in 1996 before going on to play for clubs such as K.S.K. Beveren, Olympiacos and Barcelona before joining Manchester City in 2010.

He is the younger brother of professional footballer Kolo Touré.
Achievements
He helped Barcelona win the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League title. He also helped Ivory Coast win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. He has won both the African Footballer of the Year Award and the BBC African Footballer of the Year Award multiple times.
Trivia
In 2012, he refused accepting the traditional man of the match champagne because of his Muslim beliefs. The incident made the Premier League to introduce nonalcoholic drinks to replace the man of the match champagne for Muslim players.
He had a younger brother named Ibrahim Touré, who died of cancer in 2014.
