Nicknamed “The Roadrunner,” the former professional right winger etched his name on the field of hockey for his impressively fierce runs and notches. His name made the list of the “100 Greatest NHL Players” in history.
Background
Originally from Drummondville, Quebec, he launched his professional hockey career at Montreal Junior Canadiens of the Ontario Hockey Association in 1961.
Career Highlights
Two years later, he scored 5 times in during the try outs of 5 games and remained with the Canadiens the following season. Scoring increasingly higher points, he moved from 7 in his first season to 18 in his next. By his fifth season, he had cleared lingering doubts and had earned chances in regular shifts.
In November 2005, his number 12 jersey was officially retired and raised to the rafters of the Bell Center in Montreal.
Accolade
The Hockey Hall of Fame welcomed him in 1982.
