About Zahi Hawass
Popular Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass worked at many historical sites before he was named as the Inspector of Antiquities for Giza in 1972. He was promoted to the Director General position in 1987. His dedication and work ethics got him to the position of the "Undersecretary of the State for the Giza Monuments", before he joined the Supreme Council of Antiquities as the Secretary General in 2002.
In 2011, he was appointed as the Minister for Antiquities which made him the first person to hold that office. Aside from that, Hawass is also known to be a lecturer and has worked in institutions like Cairo’s American University and the University of California in Los Angeles.

He has been married to a lady called Fekhira.
Education
This archaeologist graduated from Alexandria University before starting his studies at Cairo University. He later studied Egyptology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Accolades
Hawass has been a recipient of many international honors including France’s Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Order of Arts and Letters of Spain. The Russian Academy of Natural Sciences honored him with a silver medal in 2001.
Trivia
He has also published many popular books with some titled “The Pyramids of Ancient Egypt” and “Royal Mummies: Immortality in Ancient Egypt”.
