About Zhang Yimou
Zhang Yimou’s determination to become one of the top filmmakers in China encouraged him to study at the renowned Beijing Film Academy despite being unqualified. He and his other colleagues would later become the backbone of the transformation of the Chinese movie industry.
His first directorial work was in 1987 with the film titled “Red Sorghum”. He has also played key roles in the production of many films including “Hero” (2002) which stars Jet Li.
