About Zoltan Gera
The Hungarian former soccer star played as an attacking midfielder for such clubs as Fulham and Pésci Mecsek. In 2002, he was named the Hungarian Player of the Year.
Career
He kicked off his professional career in 1996. In 2002, he made his international debut for Hungary against Switzerland which ended in a 2-1 loss for the Hungarians. He got signed to Fulham and, in the 2008-09 Premier League, debuted with them in a 2-1 victory against Hull City. He joined the national squad at the 2016 UEFA European Championships. All in all, he featured over 90 times for Hungary and scored over 24 goals.
Accolade
He earned the “Hungarian Player of the Year” title in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
Trivia
He featured in a Pepsi commercial for the 2006 World Cup alongside soccer greats like Thierry Henry, David Beckham and Ronaldinho.
After he hung up his boots, he ventured into coaching, serving as the assistant manager of the Hungary senior national team from 2018 to 2021. Before that he was the assistant manager of Budapest-based club Ferencváros.
