About Adam Walsh
Adam Walsh was the son of American criminal investigator, victim rights activist and television personality, John Walsh. His abduction and murder in 1981 brought a lot of attention to his parents and sparked conversation around rescuing abducted children.
His father got into the line of work he has become known for due to his brutal murder. The story surrounding his murder was adapted into the TV film, “Adam”, in 1983.
Kidnapping and Murder
Adam’s abduction happened at the Hollywood Mall in Florida. He and his mother, Revé, had gone shopping that day.
After his mother left him at a video game display kiosk so that she could briefly make an enquiry about some lamps, he was later driven out by the security guard along with other boys who had got into a fight at the kiosk. It is believed that he was lured by the suspected murderer, Ottis Toole after he found himself alone outside of the mall. Although his severed head surfaced, the rest of his body was never found.
