About Alan J. Pakula
Academy Award nominee Alan J. Pakula was best known as the producer of the 1962 film “To Kill a Mockingbird”. The American filmmaker began his career in the industry as an employee of Warner Brothers. He later moved to Paramount Pictures where he had his first production work.
Considered as one of the most influential names in Hollywood, Pakula worked on many popular films including “All the President's Men” and “Klute” which starred Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland.
Family
He was the son of Paul Pakula and Jeanette Goldstein. His 1963 marriage to Hope Lange, an actress, ended in 1971. Two years after his divorce, he tied the knot with Hannah Cohn Boorstin.
Education
After The Hill School, the renowned filmmaker moved to Yale University to study drama.
Achievements
He was shortlisted for an Academy Award on three different occasions.
Cause of Death
A metal pipe came through his windshield and hit his head while driving in Melville in 1998.
Trivia
He also directed and produced 1974’s “The Parallax View”.
