Early Life
Born on September 6, 1993, to American-Ivorian parents in Georgia, Poythress attended the University of Kentucky where he was ruled out of the Kentucky Wildcats due to an injury.
Career Highlights
This American-Ivorian player was selected by the Orlando Magic in the 2016 NBA draft but signed with the Indiana Pacers. Sadly he was waived by the Pacers and had to sign with a D-League team Fort Wayne Mad Ants in October 2016. In 2017, he signed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers but less than four months later he was back with the Indiana Pacers to play for their affiliate Fort Wayne Mad Ants where he was named into the NBA D-League All-Star and All-Rookie Team.
Poythress played briefly for various teams such as Atlanta Hawks, Galatasaray Doğa Sigorta of the Turkish league and Zenit Saint Petersburg of Russia. However, he finally joined the Israeli league Maccabi Tel Aviv in June 2021.
Trivia
Poythress has an Ivorian passport because he wanted to represent Ivory Coast in any major competition.
