Given the nickname ‘The Bronx Bomber’ in reference to his origin and to boxing legend Joe Louis, Alex Ramos excelled as a professional middleweight boxer in the 1980s.
He started his amateur career in the late 1970s and participated in four Golden Gloves competitions, winning all of them before making his professional debut in 1980.
He retired following his last professional match with Jorge Fernando Castro for a chance to win the WBA World Middleweight title on November 5, 1994 in Argentina, which he lost.

His parents were Bernardo and Socorro Ramos. He grew up alongside two sisters named Miriam and Betty.
Achievements
He won 39 out of his total 51 professional matches, drew 2 and lost 10. In 1984, he won the IBF USBA Middleweight Title.
