About Alistair Brownlee
In the history of the Olympic Games, Alistair Brownlee is the first triathlete to win two gold medals. He won his first Olympic gold medal in 2012 and repeated the achievement four years later. At a very young age, he competed in many cross-country marathons.
His first major contest as a triathlete was in the Summer Olympics in 2008 where he represented Great Britain. The following year, he won the ITU Triathlon World Championship. He has also won medals at some popular competitions such as the ITU Duathlon World Championships, the European Triathlon Championships, and the Commonwealth Games.
Family
His parents Cathy and Keith were both athletes. He was introduced to the sport by Simon Hearnshaw, his uncle. His brother Jonathan Brownlee is also a well-known figure in the sport.
Education
He left Girton College in Cambridge to study at the University of Leeds.
Achievements
In 2014, he won his fourth ITU Triathlon World Championship.
