Bert Parks was a familiar face on television for some time. He was best recognized as an actor but aside from that career, he was into radio and songs recording.
Personal life
He was of a Jewish descent and was born to Aaron Jacobson and Hattie Spiegel. He was born as Bertram Jacobson but was popularly known by his stage name Bert Parks.
The Atlanta-born actor studied at the Marist School.
Career Highlight
Parks started his career as a radio broadcaster and worked with radio stations such as WGST and CBS radio. His radio hosting shows included “Break the Band” and “Monitor”.
He moved to television and began to host television game shows. His first game show was “Stop the Music”. The show was initially aired on radio and it became a television program somewhere in 1945. His other game shows included “Masquerade Party”, “The Big Payoff” and “Yours for a Song”.
Park owned his own show called “The Bert Park Show”, a nighttime show which started to run in 1950.
He was featured in quite a number of American television sitcoms, including “WKRP in Cincinnati” and “227”. The latter was created by Bill Boulware and C.J. Banks.
Death
His friends and family lost him to lung cancer at age 77.
Trivia
He gained notice for hosting “Miss America” and also producing the recording “There She Is, Miss America”.
