About Bill Lawrence
The name given to him at birth was William.H. Lawrence. He was born in Nebraska in the US. He Schooled in the University of Nebraska for a short time. At the age of seventeen, he dropped out of college and started working as a journalist with the Lincoln Star. He got married to Elizabeth Currie then after their divorce, he married Constance MacGregor. He had two children with his first wife.
Career
He started working for the Associated Press then moved on in 1937 to the United Press. He was one of the journalists to cover the Flint Sit Down Strike against General Motors. In 1941, his work caught the eye of Arthur Krock, the New York Times’ Washington Bureau Chief so he offered him a job as one of the reporters of the bureau.
In 1961, he was offered the position of Chief News Analyst for ABC News. He was assigned to join James Hagerty, the press secretary for the previous President Dwight D. Eisenhower to cover the then-President; John F. Kennedy’s first trip out of the country as Chief Executive. His career in journalism was for four decades.
Death
In March 1972, he suffered a heart attack in Manchester and passed on.
